Slipped Into Our Slippers

The elderly have paid the highest price for the control of the pandemic, with the lockdown measures and resulting isolation impacting significantly their quality of life. Age UK stands by elderly people, supporting them to live independently in their own home and providing opportunities for them to participate in social activities.

To highlight the needs of older people and raise vital funds to support the charity’s services, we participated in the “Slip Into Slippers” campaign of Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on October 2nd. With Cambridge being CHR’s hometown, we were especially keen to support this independent campaign of our local Age UK branch. We took advantage of the occasion to show off our home footwear, which has been key to our “working from home” dress code! CHR team members (and family) snapped photos featuring a great range of slippers, sliders, socks and other fashionable footwear – in turn, CHR donated £5 for every pair of… feet, totalling £185. To maximise awareness, we also shared our efforts on social media.

During these difficult times, fundraising is more important than ever to allow Age UK to adapt its services to the pandemic while ensuring uninterrupted provision of support. Recognising the charity’s effort and being committed to our values of Equality and Health, we look forward to supporting Age UK through different initiatives in the future.
